Hey there, Mama,
The other day, I was driving my teenage daughter to her strength and conditioning camp. She's naturally athletic and has been blessed with talent. But like many of us, the work it takes to move from good to great isn't always something she looks forward to.
On the drive there, she looked over at me and said she really didn't feel like going. I smiled because... honestly, I get it.
I told her, "You know, I don't really like exercising either. In fact, I rarely feel like doing it. But I know that every time I finish a workout, I feel so much better. Over time, I become stronger, healthier, and I begin seeing results that make the discipline worth it."
A few moments later she smiled and said, "You know what, Mom? The jeans I put on the other day actually felt a little looser."
And I thought... That's exactly how our walk with God works. Most days, we don't immediately see the results of our obedience. We simply choose to keep showing up.
Day after day.
Prayer after prayer.
Decision after decision.
Not because we always feel like it...
But because we know what waits on the other side of faithfulness.
Devotion: Walking by Faith, Not Feelings
Scripture
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
Have you ever imagined what life would be like if we only did what we felt like doing?
Wouldn't it be nice to wake up excited every morning to pray?
To never feel tired.
To always enjoy exercising.
To never get frustrated while parenting.
To love our spouses without ever getting annoyed.
To have endless patience.
Life would certainly feel easier. But that's not the world we live in.
We are spiritual beings living in human bodies. And this flesh... well... it be fleshin' and it just wants what it wants.
That's why I'm so thankful God never told us to walk by our feelings. He told us to walk by faith because feelings change. Some mornings we feel motivated. Other mornings we don't. Some days we feel close to God. Other days we feel distracted.
But our faith isn't built on how we feel. It's built on who God is.
Faith teaches us to obey before we see results, trust before we understand and keep showing up even when we don't feel like it. And over time...That consistency becomes discipline.
Scripture tells us:
"Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;"
God isn't asking us to serve Him only when we feel inspired. He's inviting us into a lifestyle of faithful obedience. Because ultimately... It's our faith that pleases God.
Not our feelings.
Take a Moment to Reflect
Take a moment to reflect:
- Where have I allowed my feelings to make my decisions?
- What has God asked me to stay faithful to, even when I don't feel motivated?
- What fruit might I begin seeing if I simply stayed consistent?
Remember...Feelings are real. But they don't have to be your leader.
Pray: Father, thank you for your grace and mercy. Forgive me for moments I allow my feelings to lead me instead of you. Holy Spirit, guide me when my feelings are not aligned with your will. In Jesus name, amen.

🤎 Remember that discipline today often becomes freedom tomorrow.
🤎 Trust the process God is taking you through, even when you can't yet see the results.
Faith-Filled Affirmation For the Week
"I choose to walk by faith instead of my feelings. God is producing fruit through my daily obedience, even when I cannot yet see it. My consistency today is preparing me for His purpose tomorrow."
Closing Encouragement
Mama, there will be days when you don't feel like praying.
Days when you don't feel like getting up early.
Days when parenting feels exhausting.
Days when obedience feels difficult.
Keep walking anyway. One faithful step at a time. Because just like my daughter eventually noticed her jeans fitting a little differently, one day you'll look back and realize...
Your prayers strengthened you.
Your consistency changed you.
Your obedience grew you.
And God was working the whole time.
Keep walking by faith, and watch God blow your mind!
With faith and encouragement,
